Locked out in Surfers Paradise?
It's 3am in Surfers and the door's shut behind you. This happens here more than anywhere else on the Coast, and it happens to people who are a long way from a spare key — the apartment is a holiday let, the agent's office opened at nine this morning and won't open again until nine tomorrow, and the car is a hire car whose keys are somewhere between the beach and Cavill Avenue.

Two Surfers-specific problems worth knowing about.
Holiday apartments usually run on a building fob or a restricted key the letting agent controls. Ian can get you into your own unit; the fob itself generally has to be reissued by the building. He'll tell you which side of that line you're on before he drives over.
Hire cars are the other one. Lose the keys to a hire car and the rental company's answer is often a tow and a replacement fee. It's worth ringing a locksmith first — on a lot of vehicles a key can be cut and programmed where the car is parked.
